KISU-FM 91.1 radio has announced it will present a special 30 straight hours of holiday programming to the airwaves this Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, including concerts recorded at Idaho State University.

Student program director Jamon Anderson says this year’s holiday programming will begin at 4 p.m. Christmas Eve with a yule version of Beat City Radio, hosted by ISU student Levi Montana Keller. It will be followed by “The Pleasures of Winter” from Public Radio International (PRI). Other specials on Christmas Eve include “Christmas at the World Café” at 8 p.m., and a special Blind Boys of Alabama Christmas Concert at 9 p.m. Monday night.

Anderson adds that beginning at 5 a.m. Christmas morning, KISU begins a strictly “classical Christmas” presentation, which will include “A Carillon Bells Christmas” at 7 a.m. He said the featured programming block on Christmas day starts at noon with “The Sounds of ISU” Camerata Singers 2007 Concert, followed at 1 p.m. by “The Sounds of ISU Choral Christmas Special” and at 3 p.m. by “The Sounds of ISU Instrumental Christmas Special.” All three programs feature current and past ISU students.

Christmas Day holiday programming wraps up that evening with “Jazz at the Lincoln Center” at 8 p.m., followed at 9 p.m. by “Joy to the World Jazz.”

Anderson says KISU will also have a special holiday program lineup for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day the following week.

KISU-FM 91.1 is owned by the Associated Students of Idaho State University, operating from the campus of ISU in Pocatello. The station receives a majority of its funding from ASISU student fees, but listeners can become members of KISU by going online to the station’s Web site at www.kisu.org and making an online pledge.
