Darrell Buffaloe, Idaho State University’s associate vice president for facilities services, has received a 2007 BetterBricks Award for his contributions to energy-smart buildings at  ISU,  including the new Center for Advanced Energy Studies in Idaho Falls.

Buffaloe, one of six 2007 BetterBricks winners in Idaho, took the top honor in the building operator/service provider category. He was honored at a reception in Boise Oct. 24.

The competition is sponsored by Idaho Power Co., the Idaho Business Review newspaper, and BetterBricks, a project of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, a network of utilities devoted to energy-saving practices in the Pacific Northwest.

“Darrell has been a leader on energy-efficient issues for a number of years, both on and off campus,” wrote judges in an Oct. 29 article in the Idaho Business Review.

Judges applauded Buffaloe for incorporating energy-efficient measures into the construction of the CASE building, which could save more than half a million dollars a year in energy costs.
