The Idaho State University Men’s Rugby Club team will face off against the U.S. Air Force Academy on Sept. 15 on the rugby pitch at the top of Bartz Field.

A free pancake breakfast for kids will precede the game from 8 to 10 a.m., and the Pocatello Fire Department will have a fire engine on display. A tailgate party sponsored by Associated Students of ISU will begin at 11 a.m. with a raffle and prizes to be given away. Food and T-shirts will be available for purchase.

The first game will begin at 1 p.m. with the second beginning at 3 p.m.

Head coach, Ram Eddings, said of the match up, “This is our biggest game of the season, possibly the year. Our goal is to get more students, faculty and the community to come meet the players and get to know all about rugby.”

The ISU men’s rugby team began in 1981 and has been active in collegiate play since 1996. In 2005 the team finished the season seventh in the nation. The U.S. Air Force Academy won the national championship in 2003 in Division I play.
