Professional development workshops offered

October 23, 2006
ISU Marketing and Communications

Idaho State University business information students sponsored the first, semi-annual professional development workshop earlier this week. The workshop was designed to demonstrate to students the need for professionalism when interviewing for various positions.

The workshop featured professional makeovers on three business information student models. Three students from the ISU Cosmetology program did the makeovers, consisting of hair, nails, and make-up. Ideas were presented to participants to provide professional looks, appropriate for interview situations. The cosmetology students answered questions and provided tips on how to get the styles demonstrated.

More than 60 participants from the paralegal, medical assisting, technical general education and computer software development programs participated in the workshop. Business information students from the office procedures and interpersonal skills class planned the free event. A light lunch was served and several businesses in Pocatello provided items for the door prize drawings.
