As a special holiday gift to families in Pocatello and surrounding communities, the Idaho Museum of Natural History, with help from Old Town Embroidery, will offer a “Wild Winter Fun Family Free Day” on Saturday, Dec.  16. Museum admission will be free all day and a special family activity will take place at 1 p.m.

For this free day, the activity will center on snakes of Idaho, in conjunction with an exhibit the museum is planning to open next spring. Children will have the opportunity to see and pet live snakes and make their own snake holiday ornament. Come and learn more about these fascinating creatures that are often feared and misunderstood.

While at the museum, don’t forget to browse in the store. The IMNH store offers a wide variety of unique holiday gifts on subjects including dinosaurs, rocks, birds and flintknapping. Many of the items in the store are so unique that you just won’t find them anywhere else in town. Store patrons don’t need to purchase an admission to shop, and from Dec. 1-23 all regularly-priced items are 10 percent off!

The IMNH is located at South Fifth Avenue and Dillon Street, on the campus of Idaho State University. Regular hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information call Frank Spaeth, (208) 282-6168.
