ISU’s disaster planning workshop for cultural institutions set Oct. 21

September 23, 2016

POCATELLO – Idaho State University’s Eli M. Oboler Library will offer a disaster planning workshop for administrators and staff on Oct. 21 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Randy Silverman, University of Utah Preservation librarian, will conduct the free workshop.  The workshop is for administrators and staff who work in all types of cultural institutions and are responsible for emergency preparedness, response and decision-making.

The webinar sessions and in-person workshop are scheduled to enable participants to prepare short assignments between sessions, resulting in a completed disaster plan.

The workshop is sponsored by the Western States and Territories Preservation Assistance Service with funding provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities Program, “Protecting Cultural Collections: Disaster Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery.”

Pre-registration is required. Register online for the in-person session at: htpp://tinyurl.com/ot4kve2.

For registration assistance, contact Allen Tse, tse@plsinfo.org; for general and content information, contact Randy Silverman, randy.silverman@utah.edu.

Once registered, participants will receive a link to the webinar and a follow-up email from Ellen M. Ryan, head of ISU Special Collections and Archives, regarding campus parking and lunch details.
