Idaho State University College of Business to Host Second Annual Financial Literacy Week

March 27, 2024

Financial Literacy Week, held annually during the first week in April, aims to educate and increase understanding in financial planning, taxes, estate planning, real estate, insurance and more. Events will be happening across the Idaho State University campus April 1-4 and include a panel discussion with local finance experts, trivia night, movie night and a variety of speakers, including keynote speaker Brian Berrett, Chief Financial Officer at Idaho Central Credit Union.

“It’s an honor to be selected as this year’s Financial Literacy Week keynote speaker,” said Berrett. “I’m looking forward to meeting faculty and answering student and community questions. I know there will be a lot of information to take in, but I hope everyone leaves with a few takeaways that help them be better prepared to handle their personal finances.”

“Our goals for the week are to not just educate individuals about money matters and the importance of financial literacy, but also to make the journey towards understanding financial literacy enjoyable,” said Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Economics Iris Buder. “By incorporating fun and engaging approaches into our week of events, we aim to break down barriers and make financial concepts accessible to all.”

All events are free and include multiple $200 cash prize giveaways thanks to Financial Literacy Week sponsor, Wells Fargo. Students and community members who attend all the events will be entered to receive a grand prize of $500.

"We are incredibly thankful to Wells Fargo for making our 2024 Financial Literacy Week possible for our students and community,” said College of Business Dean and Michael C. Ruettgers Professor of Marketing Shane Hunt. All of us in the ISU College of Business are committed to preparing our students and people throughout our community with the personal finance tools to help them achieve their dreams. We are thrilled to be partnering with Wells Fargo in this effort."
