Two employees were recognized during the myriad of activities during Employee Recognition Week May 4-8 at Idaho State University: they were Becky North who received the ISU Cares Customer Service Award and Kevin Owen who won the Professional Development Scholarship.
Becky North, office specialist 2 in academic advising, is pictured with Stacey Marshall, human resource training specialist. North received the ISU Cares Customer Service Award for Spring 2009. As part of the ongoing ISU Cares Customer Service Initiative, ISU employees have been participating in Customer Service Training, and the Office of Human Resources has been giving out "Spot" awards to employees around campus that have been spotted giving great customer service. In addition to that, many people have been commended for being good providers of customer service through the ISU Cares surveys. Human Resources put all winners and those commended into the drawing and North was the winner.
North will receive $100 and there is a traveling plaque that will reside in her department until a summer 2009 winner in announced. The winner of that will also receive $100. In the fall, at the Fall General Assembly, one person will be awarded $1,000 for being the ISU Customer Service Provider of the Year, according to Marshall. This person will be chosen from all persons commended through the surveys and the "spot" awards as being the very best provider of customer service here at ISU. All "Spot" award winners, in addition to getting a certificate, have received a gift. There have been ISU T-shirts, ISU mugs, Chartwells dollars, sporting event tickets, and performing arts event tickets given as awards so far.
Kevin Owen, office specialist 2 with the Institute of Rural Health, is pictured with Rick Cheatem, vice president of marketing from ISU Credit Union. Owen was awarded the $200 Professional Development Scholarship as part of Employee Recognition Week.
Employee Recognition Week featured 34 workshops dealing with a variety of personal and professional development opportunities. Distance-learning sessions were available for all campus locations. Release time was granted for employees to attend workshops, but offices remained open.
