ISU-Meridian researcher and Institute of Rural Health awarded a $250,000 grant to assist Idahoans recovering from traumatic brain injuries

As many as 35,000 Idahoans, including soldiers injured in war, may be living with a severe traumatic brain injury, according to the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  

Idaho's challenge is identifying community resources to assist TBI patients after they leave acute-care facilities and return home to live, said Russell Spearman, a senior research associate in the Institute of Rural Health at the Idaho State University-Meridian Health Science Center.

Thanks to a $250,000 grant from the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the Health Resources and Services Administration or HRSA, Spearman and his research team are a step closer to establishing a trust fund to help ease transition to independent living. (more…)

Idaho State University Debate Team finishes first at regional championship and qualifies for the National Debate Tournament; ISU prepares to host CEDA National Tournament

Idaho State University debaters Roger Copenhaver and Matea Ivanovic went undefeated and won first place at the Northwest District Tournament in Walla Walla, Wash., earning a trip to the National Debate Tournament, which determines intercollegiate debate champions each year. (more…)

Idaho State University senior art exhibition ‘terrae incognitae’ at Transition Gallery in March

Idaho State University School of Nursing to host Barn Dance fundraiser in Idaho Falls March 15

The Idaho State University School of Nursing will hold a Barn Dance fundraiser from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 15, at Mike and Charlie Lovejoy's heated barn, 1870 S. Bellin Road, Idaho Falls.

For a fee, participants will be able to enter to win door prizes. The benefit also includes a feast along with beer and wine and an auction of various items. (more…)

ISU-Meridian to contribute to March 7 Community Health Screening offering free health services and flu shots in Boise

The free community health screening for uninsured adults is Thursday, March 7, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the CATCH Office, 503 S. Americana Blvd., in downtown Boise.

ISU to host Start Smart training workshops geared towards women for job interviewing, negotiating pay

The American Association of University Women's Start Smart initiative will offer job behavioral interviewing and salary negotiating workshops geared towards women on March 7 and 8 at Idaho State University.

Participation is aimed at ISU women seniors or graduate students, but community members may attend on a space-available basis. Workshop participants will have an opportunity to hone their job interview skills and to learn salary benchmarking in preparation for their first jobs following college graduation. (more…)

Idaho State University Library features art show by David Combs through March; artist reception set March 7

The Idaho State University Eli M. Oboler Library is presenting the work of Idaho Falls artist David L. Combs through March, and will host an artist reception for him on March 7.
