Idaho State University Anderson Center to host readings by poet, activist Ely Shipley Nov. 14

The Idaho State University Anderson Gender Resource Center will present poet and activist Ely Shipley in recognition of Transgender Day of Remembrance at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Pond Student Union Wood River Room.

Nominations open for ‘Idaho Business Leader of the Year’ until Nov. 11

Nominations are open through Nov. 11 for the 2013 "Idaho Business Leader of the Year."

The Delta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi at Idaho State University has made this award annually since 1959. Alpha Kappa Psi is the premier business leadership development organization and the oldest professional business fraternity in the nation. (more…)

Grand opening for Idaho State University mass communication experimental lab set Nov. 7

A grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Idaho State University James E. Rogers Department of Mass Communication Vis Comm Experimental Laboratory will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in Room 139 of the ISU Liberal Arts Building.

The new facility will promote experimentation in print and visual communication using traditional and new technologies in letterpress and digital media. (more…)

Idaho State University Senior Exhibition ‘Connections’ runs Nov. 12-30 at Davis Gallery

The Idaho State University John B. Davis Gallery will present the Fall 2012 Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Exhibition "CONNECTIONS" Nov. 13-30 in the ISU Fine Arts Building.  

This exhibition will feature artists Sandy Bakken, Shanel Johns and Alyse Zendrosky.  An opening reception for the artists is scheduled for Nov. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m.  All events are free and open to the public. (more…)

Idaho State University Wellness Center to offer smoking cessation workshops Nov. 7, 14, 28

The Idaho State University Wellness Center will support smokers adjusting to ISU's new smoke-free campus policy by offering smoking cessation workshops Nov. 7, 14 and 28.

The workshops are being held in conjunction with National Quit Day, Nov. 15, the 37th annual Great American Smokeout, when thousands of Americans commit to quitting tobacco. (more…)

Local tech companies, education community team to introduce prep students to high-tech career possibilities at SEMI High Tech U, Oct. 31-Nov. 2

For three days, over 30  high school students from School District #25 in Pocatello will engage in a high energy, highly interactive experience, learning the fundamentals of electronics, solar technology, semiconductor manufacturing, microchip logic, automated process fundamentals and nanotechnology.

They'll be attending SEMI High Tech U, a highly acclaimed three-day tech career exploration program for high school students presented by the SEMI Foundation, and hosted at ON Semiconductor, Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and higher learning partner Idaho State University (ISU). Classes will be taught by volunteer professionals from ON Semiconductor, and INL. (more…)

New national study by Idaho State University, colleagues confirms women in jail have high rates of serious mental illness

Idaho State University RISE Complex ahead of schedule in wide range of research endeavors

The Idaho State University Research and Innovation in Science and Engineering (RISE) Complex is living up to its acronym ahead of schedule – rising as an ISU research enterprise, already attracting more than $5.7 million in research grants.

"We have a one-of-kind research facility, and we have some high-tech research equipment that you won't find anyplace else in the world," said Eric Burgett, ISU associate professor of nuclear engineering and principal investigator on the grants mentioned above. (more…)
