Idaho State University’s Katherine Reedy-Maschner to expand work in Alaska’s Aleutian Islands on subsistence harvests

Katherine Reedy-Maschner, associate professor of anthropology at Idaho State University, has received a $300,000 grant to expand her research in Alaska's Aleutian Island chain. The grant is funded by the Office of Subsistence Management, a branch of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. (more…)

Idaho State University 2012 Outstanding Student Award recipients announced

Idaho State University and the ISU Alumni Association proudly announce the 2012 Outstanding Student Award recipients who will be honored at Spring Commencement on Saturday, May 5, in Holt Arena.           

The 13 Outstanding Student Awards are presented to recognize outstanding graduating seniors who have excelled in their programs, their extracurricular activities and have epitomized ISU's outstanding student body.  Students receiving these prestigious awards exhibit a readiness to graduate, high academic achievement, above-average dedication to academic and professional goals and involvement in professional societies. Reading skills, speed reading programs to be offered in Pocatello by Idaho State University Division of Continuing Education

The Idaho State University Division of Continuing Education and instructors from the Institute of Reading Development will offer summer reading skills and speed reading programs for pre-school children entering kindergarten through entering 12th graders, college students and adults beginning July 9 in Pocatello.

The classes cover phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, study skills, speed reading and love of reading.

The classes will be held weekly on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays at the ISU Continuing Education Building located at 1001 N. Seventh Ave. (more…)

Idaho State University’s Anderson Center to host 13th annual Take Back the Night march, rally on May 4

The Anderson Gender Resource Center at Idaho State University will hosts its 13th annual Take Back the Night event Friday, May 4, at 5:30 p.m.

Idaho State University Anderson center to host Maternal Health fair May 18

Idaho State University's Anderson Gender Resource Center, together with the Office on Women's Health, will host the fourth annual Maternal Health Fair Friday, May 18.

The event, which is free of charge, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Pond Student Union Ballroom. Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to attend. (more…)

Screening of film “Energy on Trial,” panel discussion on nuclear energy featuring INL’s Grossenbacher set April 17 at Idaho State University

A screening of the film "Energy on Trial" and a panel discussion on nuclear energy will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in the Idaho State University Pond Student Union Salmon River Room.

The screening is the third installment of "The Energy Debate," a four-part film series on the future of energy in America. The event is sponsored by Idaho State University’s Energy Systems and Technology Education Center (ESTEC), the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and Partners for Prosperity. (more…)

Idaho State University SAB to host family beach party on April 13 at Reed Gym

Idaho State University's Student Activities Board is turning Reed Gymnasium into a day at the beach on Friday, April 13.

This day of family fun will include swimming from 6 to 7 p.m., a picnic-style dinner for the first 100 people from 7 to 7:30 p.m., beach volleyball and other games from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and the evening will end with the movie "Lilo & Stitch" from 8:30 to 10 p.m. (more…)

Idaho State University's Student Activities Board will present the combination comedian and stuntman Matt Baker at 7 p.m. April 18 in the ISU Pond Student Union Ballroom.

Baker has made appearances at college campuses across the country, as well as on the hit NBC show America's Got Talent. (more…)

Five Outstanding Master Teachers honored at Idaho State University

Five Idaho State University faculty members have received 2012 Outstanding Master Teacher awards and will be honored at a reception on April 12. One will receive the 2012 ISU Distinguished Teacher Award to be announced at the reception.

Receiving Master Teacher awards are Susan Goslee, assistant professor of English; Galen Louis, director and assistant professor in the Master of Public Health program, ISU-Meridian; Julie Newsome, associate professor in the Department of Educational Foundations, College of Education; Kevin Parker, professor of computer science and computer information systems, College of Business; and Jean Pfau, associate professor of biological sciences.
