22nd annual Idaho State University Jazz Fest set Feb. 6

The 22nd annual Idaho State University Jazz Fest will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, in Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall, which is located in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center on the Idaho State University campus.

Tickets for this 7:30 p.m. concert, featuring the ISU Jazz I Big Band and guest soloist Andy Martin, are $10 for general public, $5 for ISU faculty and staff, $3 for pre-college students, and free to all ISU students. Daytime events are open and free to all. (more…)

Idaho State University College of Engineering to host open house of facilities, nuclear reactor

The Idaho State University College of Engineering will host an open house of its Nuclear Engineering Laboratory where ISU’s AGN-201 nuclear reactor from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29.

The event will be hosted by mechanical and nuclear engineering departments. The laboratory and reactor are located in the basement of the Lillibridge Engineering Building, which is Building No. 7 on an ISU campus map, and is located at 833 S. Eighth Ave./Cesar Chavez Drive, between the Physical Science and Administration Building. (more…)

Idaho State University College of Education receives $133,000 in scholarship grant funding

The Department of Educational Foundations in the College of Education at Idaho State University recently was awarded more than $133,000 in scholarship grant funding for academic year 2009 – 2010.

Those funds will benefit ISU College of Education undergraduate teacher education students seeking to work in Idaho school districts as bilingual education, English, English as a Second Language (ESL), English Language Learners (ELL), and Native America teachers. (more…)

Theatre/Dance ISU invites public to pick opening show for 2010-11 season to help celebrate 80th anniversary

Theatre ISU will be celebrating its 80th anniversary during the 2010-11 academic school year and is inviting the public and its patrons to help pick its first show of that season.

"We’d like the public to choose, from a narrowed list of five productions, our first show of the year for 2010," said Erin Joy, Theatre ISU Box Office manager. "Each of these five were debuted at ISU in the 30s, 40s or 50s and Theatre/Dance ISU would like to remember seasons past. Theatre has a long and rich tradition at ISU and we want to keep the memories alive by remembering 80 years of Theatre ISU and we need some help." (more…)

Idaho State University Faculty Art Exhibition runs Jan. 12-Feb. 5; opening reception Jan. 11

Preliminary numbers indicate spring 2010 enrollment up over 13 percent at Idaho State University

The total headcount at Idaho State University is up 13.6 percent – 13,686 students versus 12,046 – compared to the first day of spring semester last year, according to preliminary enrollment numbers announced Monday, Jan. 11. (more…)

FIRST Lego League State Championship tournament to be held at Idaho State University

Idaho ROKS FIRST Lego League Championship Tournament will be held at Idaho State University on Saturday, January 16, 2010. Sixty-four teams from throughout Idaho and northern Utah are expected to compete in the state championship tournament.  (more…)
