Dr. Randy Clemons Joins College of Arts and Letters Dean’s Advisory Board

The College of Arts and Letters at Idaho State University is pleased to welcome Dr. Randy Clemons to their Dean's Advisory Board, where his background in academia and wealth of experience will provide invaluable insights to the college.
Dr. Clemons' teaching has been recognized through the Mercyhurst University Teaching Excellence Award he received in 2007. Beyond the classroom, he has presented at over 30 conferences and authored 11 articles and book chapters. Notably, he co-authored a progressive public policy textbook in 2001, now in its fourth edition, which pioneered narrative analysis and the power of stories in the field.
His expertise encompasses international relations, public policy, and pedagogy, and he has contributed as a reviewer for esteemed journals and evaluated grant applications for the Swiss National Science Foundation.
Dr. Clemons has made a significant impact as a consultant in Erie County, addressing vital issues such as foster care, homelessness, diversity, healthcare disparities, and strategic planning for justice and mental health initiatives. On our campus, he has held influential positions, including two decades as the department chair of Political Science and six years as the Dean of the School of Social Sciences. During an organizational restructure, he graciously accepted the role of Associate Dean of the Ridge College of Intelligence Studies and Applied Sciences.
His dedication to service is evident through his involvement in various university committees and roles, including President of the Faculty Senate, Faculty Senate Executive Committee, Rank & Tenure Committee, and Co-Chair of the Committee to Revise the Core Curriculum.
During the 2023 Commencement, the Professional Achievement Awards recognized Dr. Randy Clemons from The Graduate School for his valuable and distinguished contributions to Idaho State University, his profession, and his community.
