Marketing

How will you promote your event before, during and after? Whether your event is public or by invitation only, will dictate the way in which it is promoted. To ensure your materials meet university branding standards, refer to the University Style Guide. In addition, all items intended to promote ISU to either internal or external audiences must be submitted to the Marketing Materials Approval Committee.

Submitting Materials for Approval:

Materials are submitted for approval via email to the Office of Marketing and Communications at giffstev@isu.edu. Submissions are due by 9 a.m. Monday morning, and feedback is provided that same day.

Invitations

If you have questions about wording, titles, or other protocol, our office is happy to provide consultation. In addition, the Marketing Materials Approval Committee should have the opportunity to review all promotional material. Event promotional materials (invitations, posters, websites, programs, etc.) bearing the name of the university president or the president’s spouse, must be submitted to our office for approval.

Invitation Protocol

  • The invitation style should mirror that of the event (formal, casual, athletic, etc.)
  • Invitations should include:
    • the university wordmark
    • name(s) of host(s)
    • date
    • time
    • location
    • RSVP info (if applicable)
    • event dress (if applicable)
    • rain site (if applicable)
  • RSVP stands for Répondez s’il vous plait, which translates to “respond if you please.” To say Please RSVP, is redundant and should be avoided.
  • Include at least two (phone, email, website) RSVP methods
  • Limit font styles to no more than two
  • Be consistent with date and time: write both numerically, or write both spelled out (formal events)

Submit your event to the ISU Event Calendar

Be as thorough as possible in describing your event.
