Super STEM Girl Conference Discover Your Power, October 16, 2018 9AM to 2:30PM

The Center for New Directions is happy to invite you, as a parent of a local 8th grade student, to attend the Super STEM Girl Conference with your daughter. Mother, father, grandparent or guardian are welcome. Not only will you get to enjoy the day with your daughter as she does hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) activities, but you will also learn more about how to support your STEM student.

It’s important for parents to know the value of a STEM education and how it might personally benefit their child. Research shows that if parents are not supportive of their daughter’s STEM interests, it is extremely unlikely that the girl will pursue a STEM career. What better way for you to understand STEM careers than for you to see and experience them first-hand with your daughter?

The conference will be held on October 16, 2018 at the ISU Student Union Building. There is a $10 registration fee for parents and students to attend the conference. Lunch is included in that fee.  You will need to register for the conference but not the Super Power Exploration (SPE) activities in the morning. Your daughter, however, will need to register for both the conference and the SPE’s she wishes to attend.

Please contact your daughter’s school counselor to arrange registration for both you and your daughter. You may pick up an ISU parking pass at the registration desk the day of the conference.

We are very excited about hosting the Super STEM girl conference and hope that you will make plans to attend with your daughter. Please call the Center for New Directions at 282-2454 if you have questions.
