Scholarship Opportunities

  • Political Science majors who intend to go to law school can apply in their junior year (for senior funding) for the FM Bistline Memorial Scholarship. Each year a female and male student are awarded $6,889 for their senior year.
  • The F M Bistline Memorial Political Science Scholarship is awarded to a FEMALE student majoring in Political Science with an expressed goal of attending Law School. The student MUST be a Senior at time of receiving award and be registered as a full-time student. Must demonstrate past involvement in campus or community politics (volunteer participation in an issue or candidate campaign, running for or holding an elected position, participating in a get out & vote campaign, participating in a voter education campaign, lobbying activity, employment as a staff worker for a national or state office holder or other activities of nature). The student must have a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. Financial need is considered. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • The F M Bistline Memorial Political Science Scholarship is awarded to a MALE student majoring in Political Science with an expressed goal of attending Law School. The student MUST be a Senior at time of receiving award and be registered as a full-time student. Must demonstrate past involvement in campus or community politics (volunteer participation in an issue or candidate campaign, running for or holding an elected position, participating in a get out & vote campaign, participating in a voter education campaign, lobbying activity, employment as a staff worker for a national or state office holder or other activities of nature). The student must have a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA. Financial need is considered. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • In addition to the Bistline Scholarship, pre-law students majoring in Political Science may apply and compete for the Peter A. Peter D., and Patricia McDermott Scholarship, the Yvonne Dial Memorial Scholarship, and the Carl K. Davis Scholarship. These scholarships have specific requirements and all ISU students that intend to go to law school may apply.
  • Political Science has additional endowed scholarships for Political Science majors. These include the Verda White Barns Memorial Scholarship and the Richard H. Foster Scholarship. Announcements for this scholarships are on an annual basis and funding available depends on the current size of the endowment.

Fellowships

Doctor of Art Fellowships are awarded each year to students admitted to and enrolled in Doctor of Arts programs. These fellowships are available in the Departments of Biological Sciences, Mathematics, and Political Science. Most of these fellowships are awarded in the spring semester for the next academic year. Contact the departments for details and applications.
