Inaugural Pharmacy Alumni Symposium

 

The Idaho State University College of Pharmacy is pleased to offer our Inaugural Pharmacy Alumni Symposium, designed to update your knowledge base and rejuvenate your practice skills. This symposium will provide you with current information and a fresh perspective on a variety of topics.

All pharmacists are invited to attend this ACPE-accredited program.

Register Now

All participants must register online and take a pre-test at the time of registration.

CE credit will be awarded to participants who sign in, attend and participate in the live program, and complete a program evaluation and learning assessment. You may access your credits within 4 weeks. Initial release date is October 16, 2022.

Registration fees include access to meeting materials and continuing education credit. Morning refreshments, a catered lunch, and an afternoon snack are provided for in-person participants.

 

Refunds


No refunds will be given for cancellations made within one week of the program. The University reserves the right to cancel a course offering due to insufficient enrollment, natural disaster, or other justifiable reasons. Registration fees will be refunded in full. However, the University is not responsible for any cancellation fees assessed by airlines, travel agencies, etc.No refunds will be given for cancellations made within 1 week of the program.

Complete Post-Test and Evaluation

To receive credit, please complete the post-test and evaluation within 2 weeks of the program. A $25 late fee will apply if not received by October 31, 2022.

2022 Idaho Pharmacy Law Update

This presentation highlights the law changes of the 2021-2022 legislative sessions and their impact on pharmacy practice. Further, it reviews topics of frequent inquiry and commonly found deficiencies on inspections. It also provides an opportunity to gather input and ideas from licensees, registrants, and stakeholders for future action.

Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization: Implications for Pharmacy Practice

This talk will provide a summary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization and the current status of Idaho reproductive health law. Implications for pharmacy practice from the Dobbs decision and Idaho law will be reviewed.

  • Evaluate reproductive health patients needs to determine the scope of pharmacy services to provide in accordance with federal and state law and policy.
  • Analyze the reproductive health literature and reproductive health position statements of pharmacy organizations in conjunction with evolving legal and regulatory actions.

Update on Contraceptives

This talk will provide an overview of contraceptive methods currently available in Idaho, with a focus on prescribing, counseling and educating clients on options, based on professional and national guidelines.

  • Summarize information regarding current contraceptive options available to patients in Idaho, including use, failure rate, mechanism of action, side effects, and effect on future fertility for each method, to help empower patients and better involve them in shared decision-making.
  • Evaluate contraindications and potential barriers to each contraceptive.
  • Implement personalized counseling and shared decision-making strategies when providing patients with information about their contraception options.
  • Evaluate findings on appropriate screening assessment(s) for and support access to patients' preferred contraceptive method.
