Students
Where do I go to purchase my permit online?
- Students can purchase their permits online by logging into Bengal Web and accessing the Parking Services portal through their Finances tab or by clicking the "Purchase a Permit" link on the Parking Services website. If you purchase your permit online, allow at least 24 hours for pick-up from your respective parking office. Photo ID or receipt is required for permit pick-up.
What methods of payment are available for online purchases?
- Visa and MasterCard.
Where do I go if I want to purchase my permit in person?
- Permits can be purchased from your respective parking office. You must provide your license plate number at time of purchase. The Pocatello Parking Office is located inside the Public Safety Building (#27). The Idaho Falls Parking Office is located in the Student Services Office in the Bennion SUB. The Meridian Parking Office is located in the Front Office on the ISU-Meridian Health Science Center.
What methods of payment are available for in-person purchases?
- In the Pocatello Parking Office, the methods of payment are cash, check, Visa, and Master Card. In the Idaho Falls and Meridian Parking Offices, the methods of payment are cash and check only.
Can I purchase a permit if I have outstanding citations?
- All citations must be paid in full in order to purchase a permit or other payment arrangements must be made in your respective parking office prior to permit purchase. Students can pay for their citations online by logging into Bengal Web and accessing the Parking Services channel through their Finances tab or by clicking the Purchase a Permit or Pay Citations link from the Parking tab on the Public Safety web site.
What can I do if I have a large balance of outstanding citations that I cannot pay at once?
- Payment arrangements can be made by going to your respective parking office, filling out a form, and making an initial payment.
Is there any free parking on campus?

- Permits are required to park in every lot on campus. There are selected portions of Bartz Way in Pocatello that do not require a permit. Starting July 1st, 2022 there will be free parking in the northeast corner of Holt Arena. In Pocatello, permits are not required during evening and weekend hours except in campus housing lots or other lots if posted.
How do reserved permits work?
- Reserved permits are sold by the number of spaces in that particular lot to faculty and staff on July 1 of every year. Any remaining reserved permits will be available for purchase by students on the first school day of the second week of classes in the fall semester on a first come, first serve basis. Reserved permits are valid in the lot they are purchased for, any general lot, and other reserved lots while on official business except for the R02/03 reserved lots outside the Administration building (#10). In order to prevent displacement of reserved permit holders from their designated lot, reserved permits must be used in the lot designated on the front of the permit for the majority of the time.
When can I use my general or housing permit in reserved lots?
- Individuals can park in reserved lots on the Pocatello campus after 4 p.m. and on weekends unless otherwise posted.
How can I use my housing permit in general lots?
- Housing permits may be used in any Pocatello campus lot after 4 p.m. and on weekends unless otherwise posted. Housing permits can be upgraded to a housing/general combo permit for an additional fee and used in general lots at any time.
If I purchase a permit for one ISU campus, can I use it on the other ISU campuses?
- General and reserved permits purchased on one campus will work for all campuses. Housing/general combo permits purchased on the Pocatello campus are valid on the other campuses. The housing only and reduced permits are only valid on the Pocatello campus in their designated areas.
Are there separate lots for faculty/staff general parking and student general parking?
- There is no distinction for Pocatello and Idaho Falls campuses between general parking for faculty/staff or students. The ISU-Meridian campus has separate faculty/staff general parking and student general parking.
Do administrators get free parking?
- No. All administrators are obligated to pay the same rates as other faculty and staff members.
How do I appeal my ticket if I feel that it is unjust?
- All citations must be paid as they are issued or resolved by an on-line written appeal. Appeal your ticket through your Parking Portal.
Faculty and Staff
Where do I go to purchase my permit online?
- Faculty and staff can purchase their permits online by logging into Bengal Web and accessing the Parking Services channel through their Employees tab or by clicking the Purchase a Permit link from the Parking web site. Pocatello campus permits that are purchased online prior to August 1 will be mailed to your campus stop. Idaho Falls and Meridian do not mail permits, so permits for these campuses must be picked up from their respective parking office. Photo ID or receipt is required for permit pick-up.

- Benefitted faculty and staff can select payroll deduction as a payment option while purchasing their permit online or by filling out a form in their respective parking office. If you are a benefited employee and the payroll deduction payment option does not appear, please contact the Parking Office at 208-282-2625.

- No. Because they already receive reduced fees as part of their benefits package, faculty and staff are not considered students for parking purposes.
What can departments do to make parking accommodations for individuals doing business in their office?
- Departments have the choice to either provide a pass for their guest(s) or ask their guest(s) to pay the pay stations or purchase a permit for themselves at the parking office that serves the campus they are visiting.
How can offices and departments provide passes for individuals?
- Departments may purchase general or reserved department day use passes to give to anyone who is doing business with their department. The general department day use passes are $2 each and the reserved department day use permits are $3 each. These passes come in bundles of 25 and may be requested online. It is also possible for a department to purchase a yearly general or reserved permit for use by the department.
What are the rules for official business passes?
- One complimentary official business pass is issued to VPs, deans and department heads. Additional official business passes may be requested and purchased for $150 each. Official business passes must be used in conjunction with a valid permit and only while on official business. Official business passes are valid in all reserved, housing, or general lots and pay stations. The official business pass may not be used in lieu of purchasing a permit. Additional information concerning official business passes may be found by visiting the Parking Regulations and looking at official business passes under categories of permits.
Will departments be able to purchase the departmental day-use permits and official business passes with department funds?
- Yes. Departments may purchase general or reserved department day use permits or yearly reserved or general permits for use by the department.
Can employees park University vehicles in general and reserved lots without a permit?
- Yes. However, university vehicles not frequently used should be parked in general parking lots.
Campus Visitors
Where can I park?
- During daytime hours on the Pocatello campus, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors may pay to park at the pay stations or use day passes in general lots. During evening hours, campus visitors are invited to park for free, unless otherwise posted. Weekend parking will not require a permit unless otherwise posted. In Idaho Falls and ISU-Meridian, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., visitors may pay to park at the pay stations or use day permits in general lots. Weekend parking will not require a permit unless otherwise posted.

Where can I buy a day pass?
- In Pocatello, permits for the day may be purchased from the Parking Office drive-through located inside the Public Safety building (#27) on Humbolt Street during business hours. Permits are also available at the Information booth near the Administration building (#10) on Cesar Chavez Avenue during business hours. In Idaho Falls, permits for the day may be purchased from the Parking Office located near the Student Services Office in the Bennion SUB. In Meridian, permits for the day may be purchased in the Meridian Front Office in the ISU-Meridian Health Science Center.
How much is a day pass and what is the rate of the pay stations?
- General day passes are $4, and pay stations are $1 per hour.
What if I'm coming for a campus tour?
- Call Recruitment Services at (208) 282-2123 to arrange a tour. They will email you a printable PDF permit to display on your dash board. If you do not receive your permit, make sure you contact Recruitment Services before you park.
How do I appeal if I feel my ticket is not justified?
- All citations must be paid as they are issued or resolved by an on-line written appeal. Appeal your ticket on our parking website.
Event Parking
How will event parking at Holt Arena be handled?
- Event parking fees for Holt Arena events is controlled by Holt Arena and/or the Performing Arts Center. They collect in one of two ways -- as part of the event ticket price or by Holt's parking lot attendants, depending on the event. If you need additional information, contact (208) 282-2625 or (208) 282-2515.
How will event parking at the Stephens Performing Arts Center be handled?
- Event-related parking does not require a permit. When there is not an event at the Stephens Center, a parking permit is required. Designated spaces are available for those purchasing event tickets during regular business hours.
How will on-campus events be handled? (conferences, recitals, Commencement, etc.)
- Parking arrangements can be made with Public Safety by contacting (208)282-2625 or (208)282-2515. A fee for exemption may be required. Please contact Public Safety at least 2 weeks in advance to make arrangements.
It is the responsibility of event sponsors to inform attendees about parking arrangements.
Failure to inform Public Safety may result in a fee to the event sponsor for handling any tickets issued. Events sponsors can also ask attendees to purchase a day pass or pay the pay stations.
