Say “YES” to FCS! Join our Child and Family Studies program! We offer three majors and two minors that empower you to reach your career goals – life balanced with family, work and community involvement. Pursue a General FCS career to make unique contributions to the diverse and ever evolving education, community and business contexts. The program meets the standards for the Family Consumer Sciences Education standard certification for the State Department of Education in secondary education (grades 6-12) and standard occupational certification for the Idaho Division of Career and Technical Education.

Family Consumer Sciences students participate in FCCLA at local, state, and national levels.
B.A. or B.S. in Secondary Education with a major in Family and Consumer Sciences Education
- Secondary Education Graduation Requirements
- Professional Education Core (41 credits)
- Complete Either:
- Two (2) Years (4,000 clock hours) related work experience, OR
- Approved Practicum in Student’s Field of Specialization
- Secondary Endorsements: Single Content (45-credits min) OR Multiple Content (30 credits + 20 credits min)
- Supporting Teaching Minor(s) (such as Consumer Economics, Health, or Natural Science) (20+ credits)
