Profile

Dr. Weaver is an Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing at Idaho State University. She has more than 35 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner.  Dr. Weaver's clinical experiences include rural, urban and correctional health care. She brings her passion for patient care to academia, grounding students in the "real world."

Dr. Weaver has completed research projects that include "El Corazon de la Cebolla:Symptom Interpretation and Management in a Mexicana/o Population"; Early Childhood Caries Intervention in a Rural Setting; "Dementia Knowledge in Older Adults in Southeastern Idaho and is currently Co-PI on a $250,000.00 PCORI Engagement Award focused on creating a statewide social media campaign to increase awareness of PreDiabetes in the rural Latino/Hispanic population. She enjoys working with students on rural issues/projects.

Dr. Weaver is a frequent presenter at local, regional, state, national and international conferences.  She is currently working with the Rural Research Group in the Institute of Rural Health at Idaho State University.  Dr. Weaver is a member of the Idaho Rural Health Association, SIGMA Theta Tau, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Geriatric Society, Hospice & Palliative Nurses' Association and Society of Vertebrate Paleontology.
