Need help with your before NSO steps?
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions at (208) 282-2100 or nso@isu.edu.
Step 1
Complete your Pre-Orientation Modules
Please complete the pre-orientation modules before you register for an NSO date. You will use your ISU credentials to log in.
These modules will cover Academics & Services, Campus Life, Student Policies, Academic Advising, and more.
Step 2
Complete Safe College Courses
Completing the Safe Colleges module is required before class registration and will encourage you to consider your role in making ISU a safe place to live, work, and study.
Once you have logged into Safe Colleges, please complete the “Alcohol and Other Drugs” and “Clarifying Consent” courses.
Step 3
Complete the Write Class for English Placement
Every new incoming ISU student must complete The Write Class. This 10-20 minute placement course will help determine your English class placement.
Step 4
Complete the ALEKS Test for Math Placement
The ALEKS test is designed for students who have not completed a college-level mathematics course or are unsure of what course to enroll in. Completing this test will help you determine the appropriate math class to register for.
Step 5
Gather your ACT/SAT Scores and Transcripts
Make sure to send in your most up-to-date ACT/SAT scores and any transcripts from other institutions, including Dual Enrollment and university credits. We also highly recommend bringing printed copies to your NSO session.
Step 6
Check your ISU Email and Explore MyISU
Any additional updates and information will be sent via your new ISU email. Making sure you can access your email account and your MyISU profile will help you feel more comfortable with the registration process during New Student Orientation. If you cannot claim your MyISU account or access your email, don't hesitate to contact the Help Desk at (208) 282-HELP.
Step 7
RSVP for your NSO Session
Once you have completed your before NSO steps, make sure to select your NSO session and RSVP!
