With an extensive background as a professional programmer, Dr. Ludema has designed and developed several software solutions, including an in-house, web-based cross-platform practice logging system, which allows students to track practice sessions, goals, notes on specific tasks, studio participation reporting, and provides a central repository of basic resources. The system also provides an administrative portal that helps teachers keep track of their students’ assignments and progress. He also recently developed Dr. Dronein collaboration with Dr. Jason Sulliman, a full-scale intonation training app that is currently used around the world.
Dr. Ludema’s passion is teaching and learning - learning from the wonderful people all over the world with whom he’s been blessed to work; and teaching by helping students expand their perspectives and artistic power while helping guide them in their process of self-learning, exploration and discovery. In addition to teaching and performing, he continues to code (some would dubiously say “hack”), sings a mean bass in his wife’s church choir, and is on a continual hunt for the best tamales, panuchos, and habaneros. He and his lovely wife, Beth – a vocalist, oboist, and music educator with a focus on early childhood education - thoroughly enjoy life with their hilarious little boy, Hendrik (who in his young age can sing nearly every tune from the Super Mario Bros. series).
