Recognized for Quality

In 1978, the Idaho State University College of Business became the first business school in the state of Idaho to receive accreditation from the international Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

The AACSB represents “the longest serving global association dedicated to advancing management education worldwide,” and accredits less than five percent of the 16,000 schools granting business degrees in the world.  The College of Business’ accounting program is also separately accredited as one of only 175 schools holding both accounting and business accreditation, ranking ISU’s College of Business in the top two percent of business schools worldwide.

Above Average CPA Pass Rates

The Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) exam licenses individuals in one of the 50 states as a highly qualified accountant. The CPA exam requires 150 college credits and is divided into four sections, which are completed at different times of the year. Due to the exam’s notorious difficulty, a CPA licensure represents a highly qualified credential for accountants in the field. In fact, the national cumulative pass rate for all four sections of the exam is just over 46 percent.

Affordable & Manageable

Idaho State University's graduate tuition is significantly lower than surrounding graduate programs. Idaho residents completing a full-time course load can earn their master's degree for as little as $12,000.

For students holding an undergraduate degree in accounting, the MTax can be completed in just one year with a full-time course load. Students in the program take two eight-week courses at a time throughout the fall and spring, finishing with a summer capstone course.

Hands-On Learning

International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition

This rigorous competition challenges top-level students from around the world to complete 12 quarters (three-years) of simulated business decisions expedited over the course of a semester along with submitting a formal business plan and annual report. Students then travel to Anaheim for an intense 72-hour competition against their international peers followed by a formal presentation to executive-level judges from companies throughout the western U.S.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance

As part of the VITA program, students have the opportunity to prepare taxes for low-income families and other students- gaining real experience in tax preparation. The College of Business’s VITA program consistently files more returns per volunteer than most other schools of a similar size and student participation, filing upwards of 320 returns per two-month window. Meet the Firms

Meet the Firms is an accounting student career fair organized by the accounting fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi (BAP). Meet the Firms allows students to network with some of the top accounting firms in the Northwest. BAP even leaves a prepared binder of student resumes with each recruiter. Contact BAP for details.

Accounting Career Vision Symposium

This event follows Meet the Firms during the College’s annual Professional Development Month. During the symposium, students have an opportunity to participate in an open forum with graduates and professionals to ask questions about their professions. The students also enjoy a networking lunch and keynote by prominent experts in the field.

Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) is the College's nationally recognized fraternity for accounting students. Students in BAP become highly visible among potential employers with their extensive involvement in organizing events such as Meet the Firms and VITA. The students also organize numerous fund raising activities throughout the year including October's "Zombie Fun Run", March's "Bengal Bunny Fun Run", and a golf tournament. Students also travel to the regional and national meetings for the organization, which has taken place in cities such as Boston, Denver, and Anaheim. Learn more
