The Public Health Student Association (PHSA) is an official ISU student organization since the early 2000s. The purposes of PHSA are to organize undergraduate and graduates students in interdisciplinary fields; Public Health, Health Education, Nursing, SSPE, etc...  and provide extracurricular opportunities for networking, public service, and educational enhancement.

While PHSA is focused primarily on public health and health education, it is open to all Idaho State University students interested in health promotion and public health.

Benefits for Students Joining PHSA

Benefits of joining PHSA include, but are not limited to:

  • Resume Advantage – Club membership indicates additional commitment to your profession. Listing it on your resume gives you distinction; making you “stand out” from others. This is especially true for those who hold leadership positions.
  • Networking – You really do have opportunities to network with ISU alums in public health and others from whom you can learn about professional practice, as well as, make great connections for the future. Attending conferences helps network and keep you up to date on state and national affairs.
  • Increased Knowledge about Current Issues and Practices – become conversant beyond the classroom.
  • Attend State and National Conferences with Support from the Association, ASISU, and the Community – expand your horizons beyond Southeastern Idaho.

JOIN PHSA NOW AND SEE PUBLIC HEALTH IN ACTION!

Please contact PHSA President (Contact Information Provided below) for more information or to request a membership form. Club dues are $15/year and include a T-shirt.

Monthly Meetings, Leadership & Service Opportunities

Meetings are held monthly throughout the school year, typically around the noon hour. PHSA holds one fundraising opportunity per semester which generates funds for the club to be used in other events. Additionally, PHSA will facilitate various opportunities to perform healthcare related service to enhance networking and resume-building prospects. We also host various recreational activities throughout the year including pot luck lunches, a yearly Blood Drive through the American Red Cross, blanket drives for local shelters, and donations to various local projects. Please contact any one of the officers below for further information.
