Family Fun - World Oceans Day

June 8, 2019

9 am to 12 pm

We will be joining the world in celebrating our Oceans this Family Fun Day. We will have hands-on activities for all ages to learn about the importance of our oceans. How easy is it to clean up an oil spill activity? Do you know your carbon footprint? Let us help you calculate it. And we will bring out our teaching shell collection and discuss the types of animals that inhabit these shells.

A healthy world ocean is critical to our survival. Every year, World Oceans Day provides a unique opportunity to honor, help protect, and conserve our world’s shared ocean. The ocean is important because it:

  • Generates most of the oxygen we breathe
  • Helps feed us
  • Regulates our climate
  • Cleans the water we drink
  • Offers a pharmacopoeia of medicines
  • Provides limitless inspiration!
