Community disaster resilience and community health.

Bio

Mr. Mikitish is investigating ways to optimize community health workers (CHW) as trusted liaisons for necessary health and social services. He is currently directing a collaborative effort between the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s Bureau of Rural Health and Primary Care and ISU to offer training, statewide, for CHWs.

With the ISU College of Pharmacy, Mikitish is participating in the Collaboration on a CHW/Pharmacist Tele-health Visitation Model to Assess Feasibility and Patient Acceptance study. The research team is evaluating the use of CHW to help remote pharmacists reconcile medications for patients in rural settings via telemedicine.

Mikitish is the Chair of the Emergency Services Department and Director of the Institute of Emergency Management at Idaho State University (ISU). He holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from Boston University and a Masters of Public Administration from Boise State University.
