Justin S. Lee, PhD, LCSW
Assistant Professor and Practicum Field Director, Social Work Program
Research Interests
Dr. Lee is interested in studying refugee integration, particularly focusing on improving cultural adaptation in mental health treatment. He is also interested in studying Hispanic/Latino health disparities, particularly in the areas of type 2 diabetes and HIV/AIDS. Dr. Lee is most familiar with community-based participatory research methods, particularly qualitative methods in English and Spanish.

Bio
In addition to his teaching and administrative duties for the social work program, Dr. Lee is currently evaluating optimal group interventions for treating refugee survivors of torture. In addition, he also works as a clinical therapist with refugee clients in the community as part of a larger study.
Prior to joining ISU, Dr. Lee worked as a project collaborator on an NIH funded project designed to increase the number of academics conducting health disparities research. He was also a project coordinator on a 2.5 year AHRQ grant.
Dr. Lee has held previous faculty appointments at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Barton College. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University; Master of Social Work from Eastern Washington University.
