Idaho State University (ISU) provides students with a clear path toward completion of a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and to become pharmacists. Students typically declare pre-pharmacy as a major or minor, but do not need to complete a bachelor’s degree before entering the PharmD program. The pre-pharmacy curriculum takes 2-3 years to complete.
The ISU College of Pharmacy offers a 4-year PharmD program that can be completed in Pocatello or Meridian, Idaho or in Anchorage, Alaska. Students may complete their fourth year at our clinical sites in Boise, Pocatello, or Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Reno, Nevada or Anchorage, Alaska. Completing the pre-pharmacy curriculum and the PharmD program to become a pharmacist will typically take 6-7 years.
Students seeking admission to the ISU PharmD program must complete all pre-pharmacy and general education requirements, except for biochemistry, by the end of the spring term of the year students apply. Biochemistry may be completed in the early summer session prior to admission. Pre-pharmacy requirements may be completed at any accredited two- or four-year college.
