Lower Division History Courses (see also general education objectives in the Curriculum Map below)

  • Introduce chronological thinking by identifying continuity and change, cause and effect, and other analytical thinking skills related to historical change through time.
  • Develop skills to interpret primary and secondary sources.
  • Explain and support arguments in response to historical questions.

 

Required Course (HIST 2291)

  • Develop historical research skills to locate and interpret primary and secondary sources.
  • Evaluate historical argumentation by analyzing a variety of perspectives and sources of evidence.

 

Required Course (HIST 4491)

  • Apply historical research skills to locate and interpret primary and secondary sources.
  • Evaluate historical argumentation by analyzing a variety of perspectives and sources of evidence.
  • Develop original historical questions and formulate historical arguments based on evidence to answer those questions.

 

Upper Division U.S. History Courses

  • Analyze historical developments and position the ideas, motivations, and actions of people in the past within their local, national, regional, and/or global contexts.
  • Employ chronological thinking by identifying continuity and change, cause and effect, and other analytical thinking skills related to historical change through time.
  • Evaluate and/or construct historical argumentation by analyzing a variety of perspectives and sources of evidence.
  • Implement skills to interpret primary and secondary sources.

 

Upper Division World History Courses

  • Analyze historical developments and position the ideas, motivations, and actions of people in the past within their local, national, regional, and/or global contexts.
