October, 3, 2017
POCATELLO – Idaho Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Business Consultant, Claudia Allen, was recognized as the Idaho State Star at the recent America’s Small Business Development Center conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
With a background in banking, marketing, bookkeeping and business ownership, she helped clients access over $7 million in capital, create 53 new jobs, and start 11 new companies in 2016. Allen loves dissecting financial statements and helping clients solve Quickbooks problems. The favorite parts of her job are helping people, working with a diversity of clients, and making a positive impact on her community.
The Southeast Idaho SBDC is hosted by the Idaho State University College of Business where students interact with Idaho SBDC clients for class projects. The office serves businesses in Bannock, Bear Lake, Bingham, Caribou, Franklin, Oneida, and Power counties with no-cost business consulting and affordable trainings. Yearly statistical analysis by David Chrisman, a business researcher, shows that Idaho SBDC clients consistently outperform the average Idaho small business.
Allen has a degree in marketing from Idaho State University and is currently enrolled in its Master of Business Administration program. Allen is very civic minded and is heavily involved in Civitan, an organization that focuses on people with disabilities. She has been a past president of the local club, a governor of her district and started a new club “Twisted Stitchers” that knit for people in need.
