ISU physics department to hold free teen water rocket workshop June 24-25

June, 13, 2017

POCATELLO –There will be a free water rocket workshop for teens put on by Idaho State’s physics department from 10 a.m. to noon on June 24 and 25 at Tydeman Park in Pocatello.

The first 100 teen participants 16 and younger will receive free materials each day to build a water rocket. All participants will also be provided with instructions on how to build an inexpensive water rocket launcher that can be powered by a bicycle pump.

ISU physics students will help with assembly and provide simple demonstrations of how a good rocket can be made.

After the workshop, participants can keep the rocket they construct and are able to compete in a competition to see whose rocket travels the greatest distance. Prizes, like water rocket launchers, will be available.

This event will be in conjunction with the Pocatello Kiwanis Club’s 50th-annual pancake and sausage breakfast fundraiser.

Tydeman Park is located at Eight Avenue and East Young Street.
