'Genetic Tools for Species Conservation' — Phi Kappa Phi Scholarly Lecture on Thursday, Oct. 26 at ISU

POCATELLO — Janet L. Loxterman, associate professor and assistant chair of the Idaho State University Department of Biological Sciences, will present the annual Phi Kappa Phi Scholarly Lecture "Genetic Tools for Species Conservation" at 7 p.m. Oct. 26 in the Salmon River Suite of the Pond Student Union on the campus of Idaho State University, and the community is invited to attend.

Loxterman has researched the ecology, genetics, and natural history of pumas and, more recently, she has studied the stocking history and barriers to movement of cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, and steelhead.

Loxterman received her undergraduate degree from Lehigh University; her Master of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University; and her doctoral degree from Idaho State University.  She joined the ISU Department of Biological Sciences in 2008. Since then, Loxterman has authored or co-authored 13 research articles and four technical reports. 

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi established Chapter 110 on the ISU campus in 1970 and, since then, has awarded numerous tuition scholarship for undergraduate study.  Membership is by invitation only.
