More about Future Educators Day

What is Future Educators Day? Future Educators Day gives future teachers the opportunity to live a day in the life of an Idaho State College of Education students and learn more about careers in education. High school students across southeast and eastern Idaho will have the opportunity to learn more about opportunities in education directly from Idaho State faculty, take a tour of ISU, eat lunch in Turner Hall, and talk with current College of Education students about their experiences in their classes and their journey in becoming a teacher. This academic, fun-filled day encourages and supports high school students to pursue their passion for teaching.

Who can attend? All high-school students interested in becoming a teacher are welcomed! We encourage students to register with their school, but if individual students want to attend, please contact Amy Dressel directly for registration information.

Location of event: Idaho State University Reed Gym & College of Education

What to expect: High school students will arrive at Reed Gym and receive their registration information including name badges and swag bags (including an ISU t-shirt, information about ISU, Agenda for the day’s events and list of academic sessions information.) Following their registration before they enter Reed Gym for the welcome session, students can walk around through the mini ISU fair in Reed Lobby where ISU resources like Campus Rec, Honors, Bengal Bridge, Early College, and Admissions will be ready to meet and talk with students.

The Welcome Session will start promptly at 9:15 a.m. in Reed Gym to welcome the different schools in attendance and go over the schedule for the day. After this brief welcome, the high school students will self-select which two 45-minute academic sessions they would like to attend (see list of session topics for more information).

Following the academic sessions, students will go out for an ISU campus tour led by student ambassadors. The student ambassadors will take them down to the SUB to explore more of the activities offered and give them a chance to buy Bengal gear at the ISU Bookstore. The ambassadors will finish the tour leading them up to Turner Hall where they will be met by faculty and staff for a free lunch.

After lunch, students and advisors will gather back into Reed Gym for a student panel. Here, we will have current COE students (along with Financial Aid and Scholarships) to share their personal experiences about being an ISU COE student. Once the panel is over, we will host our closing remarks and students will get picked up from Reed to go back to their respective schools.
