Valerie Hoybjerg firmly believes education is the key to a better life, and that ISU provides an excellent education while building confidence, resulting in success on many levels. She has served as a County Commissioner, President of the Idaho Association of Counth Commissioners and Clerks, Chairman of the Board of Idaho Juvenile Corrections under the past three Directors, member of the first Drug Court, Coordinating Committee member of the Interagency Council on Substance Use Disorder and Treatment, member of the Board of Health for Southeastern Idaho Public Health, member of IDJC Custody Review Board, Chair of IAC Justice and Public Safety Steering Committee, Chair of District VI Juvenile Detention Center, Secretary of the ISU Foundation Board of Directors, member of the Review Board for National Registry of Historic Places, and others.
She and her husband, John, recently sold their John Deere Dealerships in American Falls and Twin Falls and are dabbling with retirement. She is the recipient of the 2006 "Orchid - Friend of Preservation" award, Idaho's Historic Preservation Council's Hall of Fame. She is active in her church and has held positions of responsibility reaching throughout southeast Idaho and northern California.
