Learning in Residency

 

In addition to rotational learning, ISU FMR has a structured didactic / lecture schedule, taught by a combination of faculty, community physicians, and other clinicians. Didactics occur every lunch hour, and every Thursday afternoon from 12:30 to 5:00 pm.

Every month is dedicated to a specific system, which are:

  • Cardiology
  • Respiratory 
  • Musculoskeletal / Rheumatology
  • Endocrinology / Diabetes
  • Gastroenterology 
  • Dermatology
  • Nephrology / Urology / Male Reproduction 
  • Hematology / Immunology / Oncology 
  • Neurology /Psychiatry 
  • Pediatrics (twice per year)

Physician Wellness

As part of the Physician Wellness Program, there are two monthly meetings dedicated to this, which are:

  • Intern Support Group
  • Balint Group

Residency Professionalism

Residents are an important part of conducting Residency Business:

  • Graduate Medical Education Committee
  • Resident-Faculty Meeting
  • Department Meeting
  • Other committee Membership, such as Curriculum Committee and Program Evaluation Committee at the Residency, and Medical Staff Quality Meeting and Infectious Control Committee at the hospital.
