Instructional Materials Center
Instructional Materials Center (IMC), one of the seven regional centers, serve as a public depository for p-12 curricular materials currently under adoption in the state of Idaho. IMC also houses other materials such as theses, dissertations, manipulatives, iSTEM materials, and so on. These materials are available for ISU students and faculty, local teachers, and community members.
State Adopted Textbooks
The IMC textbook collection includes P-12 textbooks in varied subject areas such as Language Arts, Mathematics, Calculus, Reading, Social Studies, Science, Health, Social Science, vocational materials. Student edition, teacher edition, and teacher resources are included in this collection.
The IMC has a small reference collection: Academic American Encyclopedia, Compton's Precyclopedia, Children's Britannica, The World Book Encyclopedia of People and Places, Childcraft, The World Book Encyclopedia, The New Book of Knowledge, and dictionaries for all ages including subjects from writing to law. These reference materials do not circulate without permission.
Award Book Collection
The IMC Award Book collection consists of Caldecott and Newbery winners 1930s to 2001. This small collection circulates for two weeks.
Theses and Dissertations
In addition to instructional materials, the College of Education master theses and doctoral dissertations are also housed in the IMC.
Manipulatives and iSTEM materials
The manipulative collection is made up of a variety of hands-on instructional materials. The IMC also has iSTEM materials such as ozobots, 3D printers.
Most of the collections can be circulated for three weeks and can be renewed one more time.
Classification and Call Number
The IMC uses Dewey Decimal numbers, publishers, grade levels, publication year, and reading levels for the system of call numbers.
