Dietetic Internship Application Process and Admission Requirements
The program is uses the online centralized internship application, DICAS, which may be accessed at https://portal.dicas.org; E-mail: DICASinfo@DICAS.org. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on February 15. The fee to use DICAS is $45.00 for the first application submitted and $20.00 for each additional application.
Applicants who apply to internships using DICAS will be asked to complete a personal statement in 8,000 characters or less. Questions to be addressed in the personal statement include:
1. Why do you want to enter the dietetics profession?
2. What are some experiences that have helped to prepare you for your career?
3. What are your short-term and long-term goals?
4. What are your strengths and weaknesses or areas needing improvement?
Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended should be sent to: DICAS-Transcript Department, P.O. Box 9118, Watertown, MA 02472.
When completing the application form in DICAS, applicants MUST include the name and contact information (specifically as an e-mail address) for each reference. This will trigger an e-mail message requesting completion of a reference form. The form will be completed online by the two faculty members, one employer and by the recommender.
Applicants must also register online for computer matching at www.dnddigital.com and select dietetic internship priority choices by 11:59 p.m. Central Time on February 15. There is a $55.00 computer matching fee with D&D digital.
Any application materials submitted after the February 15 deadline will not be accepted.
Idaho State University Dietetic Internship will notify top ranked applicants for an interview during the month of March. This interview will take place prior to Applicant Notification Day.
Students must notify the Dietetic Internship Program Director, Charlene Byington, MEd., RD, LD, at 208-282-3091 or firstname.lastname@example.org if they accept/reject the computer match by 5:00 p.m. on Appointment Day of the program's time zone.
A non-refundable supplemental application fee of $50.00. (Make check payable to: ISU Dietetic Programs). If you are applying to both the Pocatello and Meridian internships, you must pay two supplemental application fees for a total of $100.00. Fee payment must be postmarked by February 15.
The following admission requirements must be met prior to beginning the Dietetic Internship:
- GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Verification statement of DPD courses
Work experience in food service or health care is desirable, but not mandatory for admission.

*PLEASE NOTE: Those interns ACCEPTED to the program are required to submit a $1450 (subject to change) NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT. This deposit is typically due around the end of May. The $1450 (subject to change) will be applied toward the professional fee at the time of registration. (Please DO NOT send this deposit with your application!)
