About IC/BPS

Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) is a chronic condition characterized by pelvic pain, pressure, or discomfort in the bladder and pelvic area coupled with urinary frequency and urgency:

  • It affects 3 to 8 million women in the US.
  • The underlying cause of IC/BPS remains unknown; there is no cure.
  • Treatment typically requires an interprofessional, multimodal approach.
  • Protocols may include a combination of medications, neurostimulation, physical therapy, and dietary modifications.
