As part of the ongoing national search to select a College of Business Dean Search, Idaho State University has invited three finalists to campus. In order of their scheduled campus visits, the three finalists are Dr. Dan Goebel, Dr. Shane Hunt and Dr. Mike Stevens. Each candidate will visit Pocatello over a two-day period to meet with faculty, staff, students, and friends of the University.
Dr. Dan Goebel
Daniel J. Goebel is a professor of marketing at Northern Arizona University (NAU). He has over 21 years of experience in higher education and 10 years experience in business prior to entering academe. Dan has served in a variety of leadership roles including dean of the NAU Franke College of Business, associate dean of the Illinois State University (ISU) College of Business, and acting department chair of the ISU marketing department. He has made contributions to enrollment and student success initiatives and to faculty and staff recruitment and retention efforts through development of academic and co- curricular programs, professional development opportunities, and fundraising. Dan holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of South Florida, an MBA from Illinois State University, and a B.S. in Business (Accounting) from Eastern Illinois University. His research in sales and organizational buying is published in several top journals and he is an award-winning teacher.
Dr. Shane Hunt
Dr. Shane Hunt is the R.M. "Bob" Wood Endowed Professor in Sales Leadership and a Professor of Marketing at Arkansas State University. He has over twelve years of experience in higher education and before that, eight years of experience in the private sector. Shane previously served as the Dean of the College of Business at Arkansas State University, where he led a successful AACSB reaccreditation effort and set fundraising records that doubled the number of scholarships provided for students and tripled the number of endowed professorships in the College in just three years. Shane holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from Oklahoma State University and an MBA and BBA from the University of Oklahoma. Shane has won numerous teaching awards, and his research has appeared in The Journal of Personal Selling and Sales Management, The Journal of Business Logistics, and he is the author of two leading Principles of Marketing textbooks.
Dr. Michael J. Stevens
Dr. Michael J. Stevens is a Brady Distinguished Presidential Professor at the Goddard School of Business at Weber State University. He has 26 years of experience in higher education and 18 years in business consulting as a founding partner of the Kozai Group, which develops widely used assessments for global leadership and intercultural competencies. Dr. Stevens’ primary areas of expertise include leveraging people and culture for competitive edge, leadership and company culture, and interpersonal effectiveness in diverse workplaces. He has served in many leadership roles, most recently as Chair of a large and thriving interdisciplinary Department—a role he served in for ten years. He also served as a commissioned officer and has held leadership and board positions in industry, government, and not-for-profit enterprises for more than two decades. Dr. Stevens received his B.A. in Economics from the University of Utah, where he graduated summa cum laude, and his Ph.D. from Purdue University.
