Become a Mentor
As a freshmen, you may have come to Idaho State from a different city, state or even country. You may know the stresses of navigating a college atmosphere alone and for the first time. Here's your chance to provide a little guidance to new students wearing those same shoes. You've been through the hoops, you've made friends, enjoyed your campus experience and established a good routine for doing well in class and preparing yourself for a successful future. As a Peer Mentor, you will have a chance to pass on that wisdom to incoming students.
The Benefits
- Helping your peers be successful in college
- Regularly participate in College-sponsored activities like bowling, rock climbing, free meals and more.
- Add "Peer Mentor" to your resume
- Get involved and make new friends
Time Commitment
Once mentors sign up to participate in the program, it is our hope that you have the ability to commit to being there for your mentee as needed. Mentor and mentee groups are welcome to plan their own opportunities to study together, provide advice over food and more. But, the College of Business will also host regular events that give groups a chance to meet for various activities. We expect that mentors will be able to attend these activities on a regular basis. Activities will be scheduled one to two times per month.
How to Help
Students interested in becoming mentors can click the button below to email one of our advisors. Take this opportunity to tell us a little bit about yourself and why you are interested in becoming a Peer Mentor. Once you are officially signed up, we will begin pairing new students with current students at our annual summer registration events. You will be notified of program activities and updates via your ISU email.
