Recognized for Quality
In 1978, the Idaho State University College of Business became the first business school in the state of Idaho to receive accreditation from the international Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
The AACSB represents “the longest serving global association dedicated to advancing management education worldwide,” and accredits less than 5 percent of the 16,000 schools granting business degrees in the world. The College of Business’ accounting program is also separately accredited as one of only 175 schools holding both accounting and business accreditation, ranking ISU’s College of Business in the top two percent of business schools worldwide.
One of the Nation's Highest CPA Pass Rates
The Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) exam licenses individuals in one of the 50 states as a highly qualified accountant. The CPA exam requires 150 college credits and is divided into four sections, which are completed at different times of the year. Due to the exam’s notorious difficulty, a CPA licensure represents a highly qualified credential for accountants in the field. In fact, the national cumulative pass rate for all four sections of the exam is just over 46 percent.
Most undergraduates planning to take the CPA exam go on to our graduate programs in order to qualify. But, undergraduate students that do take the exam typically pass at a rate of 55 percent.
The course structure of our graduate accounting program is uniquely designed to coincide with the four parts of the CPA exam. This structure has resulted in one of the nation’s top CPA pass rates of 88 percent.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
As part of the VITA program, students have the opportunity to prepare taxes for low-income families and other students- gaining real experience in tax preparation. The College of Business’s VITA program consistently files more returns per volunteer than most other schools of a similar size and student participation, filing upwards of 320 returns per two-month window.
