Recognized for Quality

In 1978, the Idaho State University College of Business became the first business school in the state of Idaho to receive accreditation from the international Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

The AACSB represents “the longest serving global association dedicated to advancing management education worldwide,” and accredits less than five percent of the 16,000 schools granting business degrees in the world.  The College of Business’ accounting program is also separately accredited as one of only 175 schools holding both accounting and business accreditation, ranking ISU’s College of Business in the top two percent of business schools worldwide.

ISU offers the only Health Informatics Master’s Degree in Idaho...

Flexible & Affordable

Finish in Two Years

On average, students complete the MSHI degree in two years. The degree could potentially be completed sooner if students have the required background knowledge and/or attend on a full-time basis. We offer evening courses at our campuses in Pocatello, Idaho Falls and Meridian, so offering students and working adults the flexibility of completing the program on a part-time basis.

One of the Lowest Graduate Tuiton Rates

Idaho State University’s College of Business features one of the lowest-cost graduate tuition rates in the country, allowing MSHI graduates to maximize return on their investment. The MSHI degree can be completed concurrently with a BBA in Health Informatics in 5 years, further reducing the cost to the student.

Experiential Learning

MSHI Practicum

The MSHI practicum provides professional field experience and makes it possible for students to emphasize real-world experience on their curriculum vitae.  The practicum requires 128 hours of hands-on experience. Providing students with the opportunity to synthesize all previous coursework, to develop competence in professional practice, and create solutions for health informatics problems.

Project or Thesis

Students gain additional expertise by completing a significant health informatics related project, or developing a thesis. Students who wish to gain experience in conducting intense research or plan to  pursue a Ph.D. commonly select the Master’s Thesis option. The project option is students who plan to pursue a non-academic career within the healthcare industry.

Exceptional Faculty

We take great pride in our exceptional faculty. Our well-respected core of established informatics professors at ISU consists of faculty who have in-depth knowledge of Health Informatics and experience assessing the needs of healthcare practitioners and administrators. Our faculty members have a helpful and caring approach, mentoring students each step of the way in the pursuit of their degree and preparing them for a successful career.

5 Year BBA/MSHI

Qualifying students can complete a BBA and MS in Health Informatics within five years.  Students who select this option will focus on the BBA-HI for three years, and then take courses that apply toward both the BBA-HI and MSHI the next two years. Concurrent BBA-HI/MSHI candidates will not receive either degree until all requirements are completed for both degrees.
