Changing the Page Title

The page title is what is displayed in the tab of the browser. Engines use the title to categorize the page.

Titles should be:

  • Related to the page content
  • 60 characters or less

How page titles are generated

The title is generated by the name you give to a section (page).

Physical location of name field for a section

If the homepage of your website has the URL of and you created a new section in your hierarchy named 'Corndogs & Mustard Packets'

The title would for that section would be:

Corndogs & Mustard Packets | Idaho State University

How to tailor a title

In many cases you need the section name to be something specific because that name is displayed in your navigation. However, you may want your title to be different than the name of the section.

T4 has a way to create a title that is seperate from the section name.

On the General Section Details page under Advanced settings, there is a field called Page Title.

The page title field is located in the advanced settings area of a section

Type the new title into that field and save changes.
