Message from the Dean . . .

Laura McKnight, MPH, RD, LD

Welcome to the College of Health Professions (CHP) in the Kasiska Division of Health Sciences at Idaho State University! The CHP offers over twenty different degrees, certificates, and post-graduate residency training through the following departments and programs: Community and Public Health, Counseling, Dental Hygiene, Dental Sciences, Dietetics, Emergency Services, Family Practice Residency, Medical Laboratory Science, Physician Assistant Studies, and Radiographic Science. As Idaho’s premier university for education in the high-demand health professions, your destination might be closer than you think with programs available not only on the two major campuses (Pocatello and Meridian) but several satellite locations including Idaho Falls, Twin Falls, and Caldwell, and online options as well.

Throughout the many programs in the CHP, our caring and dedicated faculty are committed to providing an education that focuses on mentoring students to become outstanding clinicians and leaders in their chosen health-related field. In addition, students across the varied disciplines in the CHP engage in extensive hands-on learning and have the opportunity to interact with students and faculty in other health professions as well.. These interprofessional experiences take place in classroom as well as clinical settings. The CHP is directly responsible for the activities of eight different clinics within the Kasiska Division of Health Sciences at ISU, which provide not only top-notch education experiences, but also critically needed care to rural and underserved populations. Still other supervised clinical practice experiences are offered in cooperation with hospitals, clinics, and many other community partners and preceptors who are dedicated to providing first-class health sciences education as well as improving the health and well-being of Idaho residents.

So if you’re thinking of becoming a counselor, dental hygienist, dietitian, health educator, medical lab scientist, paramedic,  physician assistant, radiographic technologist or any of more than a dozen different health professions, I encourage to you see what opportunities await you in the CHP at ISU!
