How and when can I renew my monthly, semester, or summer membership?

For paying members such as Faculty, Staff, Alumni, and Seniors, Spring semester memberships have been extended through the summer to August 15.  If you normally would not have had a membership during the summer, please reach out to us:  208-282-4854 or pearmarc@isu.edu

For members using payroll deduct, the deductions were automatically frozen when the gym closed, March 18, and will automatically resume May 29.  Please contact our office if you would like to stop your payroll deduction:  208-282-4854 or pearmarc@isu.edu

If you don’t have a Student Recreation Center membership and would like to purchase one, we are open for business from 7:30am-4pm Monday through Friday.

I am a student who is not currently enrolled, but I plan to enroll this fall; can I use the gym?  I am taking classes online this summer; do I have to pay to use the gym?

Spring student memberships expired on the final day of the semester (May 8, 2020).  Students enrolled in Summer classes have gym access.  Students who were enrolled in Spring and are pre-enrolled for fall classes may be eligible for a summer gap membership.   Please contact us for information about a gap membership:  208-282-4854 or pearmarc@isu.edu

Spring semester Student spouse memberships also expire on May 8.  Student spouses will have to renew at the Campus Connections desk in the SUB

Can I buy a day pass?

Yes.  We strongly prefer patrons use a credit card to reduce cash handling.

How will the Student Rec Center be enforcing social distancing guidelines?

Patrons will have the ability to self-swipe their ID to enter the gym.  The check-in area will have floor markers to keep patrons 6 feet apart at the entryway.  In order to maintain 6 feet of distance between patrons in all workout areas, we may need to limit the number of patrons allowed in the facility at one time.  Available workout equipment will be arranged so patrons are not within 6 feet of each other.  Congregating in groups of 10 or more and group activities, including fitness classes, are prohibited at this time.  Staff will monitor the facility throughout the day to ensure patrons are practicing good social distancing.

Can I bring my kids?  Will you offer family hours for patrons?

You may purchase a day pass for a minor to use the facility.

Ages 16+.........   $8/day

Under age 16…  $6/day

Minors must stay with and be directly supervised by an adult. For safety purposes, no one under age 16 is allowed in the cardio or weight areas.

For the summer, we are extending free family hours all open hours for gym members.  Members of the Student Recreation Center are allowed to bring their children (to age 19) to use the facilities for free.  Only the member’s tax dependent children are eligible for free entry during family time.  Free family hours do not include spouses, siblings, parents, grandparents, friends, neighbors, etc. Those purchasing day passes or using a 10-punch pass are not members, and therefore are not allowed to bring in their children for free during family hours.

I am concerned other patrons are not following policy.  What can I do?

Please let our desk staff know and we will address the situation. We are committed to doing our best to keep patrons and employees safe.  We are operating under the rules of the State of Idaho and Idaho State.

Can I get into my locker or take a shower?

The locker rooms will not be available for changing or showering until June 1. Please be prepared to arrive ready to work-out. If you need to get into your rented locker, please make an appointment.  208-282-4854

Can I check out a towel?  Can I check out a weight belt or band?

Shared, checkout equipment will be limited to that which can be effectively and efficiently disinfected between users.  Patrons are encouraged to bring their own mats, bands, weight belts, etc.  We will not be checking out towels at this time.

Is ISU issuing parking tickets around Reed Gym?

ISU will resume ticketing May 11.  For summer parking information, visit isu.edu/parking or call 208-282-2625.

Is the swimming pool open?

TBD.  Our pool continues to undergo major foundational repairs.  A firm pool reopening date has not been set, and at this time, the pool is slated to open mid June for lap and fitness swimming only.   To ensure 6 foot social distance, one swimmer per lane permitted with possible exceptions for family or household groups.  If needed, lane use may be restricted to 30 minutes per person.  Use of shared equipment, such as kickboards and buoys, is prohibited. To limit time in the locker rooms and showers, patrons should consider wearing a suit to and from the pool; arriving as close as possible to when activity begins; and showering at home after pool use.   Please check back for updates as there is a chance the pool reopening timeline will change.

Will there be swim lessons this summer?

At this time, we do not know if Campus Recreation will be able to offer swimming lessons.

Can I play tennis or racquetball?  How do I reserve a tennis court?

Starting May 18, tennis play is limited to singles only; racquetball is not allowed.  All tennis and racquetball courts will be available on a first come, first serve basis.  No reservations required or allowed.  Court time may be limited at staff discretion to accommodate players.  Players need to have their own equipment.

Do I have to wear a mask when I workout?  Do you provide gloves and masks to patrons?

Patrons are encouraged to wear a face covering while in the facility, but it is not required.  At this time, Campus Recreation is not able to provide gloves or masks to patrons.

Why can’t I lift free weights?

At this time, we feel there are too many touch points to adequately sanitize our free weight equipment.  We will reevaluate adding/opening spaces, programs, and equipment in two week increments.

Are the functional fitness rooms open?

Currently, no.

Can I play basketball?

On May 18 basketball will not be available.  When the courts do open, they will be available for individual practice only--with possible exceptions for family or household groups. Players are encouraged to bring their own equipment.
