Department News

Congratulations to Rebecca Hale (ISU Biology Assistant Research Professor) and Bray Beltran on the newest addition to their family, a baby girl born in December!

Sharee Anderson, former ISU Biology graduate student of Dr. Trent Stephens, is the vice president of Instruction and Student Affairs at the College of Eastern Idaho. Sharee received her Doctor of Arts degree in 2009.

Arthur Talaro, former ISU Biology graduate student of Dr. Rufus Lyman, passed away July 23, 2017. He graduated with a Master of Natural Science degree in Zoology. His thesis was entitled, “The Serum Proteins of the Chinchilla: A Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis by Cellulose Acetate Electrophoresis.” Art was a professor in the Life Sciences Department at Pasadena City College from 1972-1995 before his retirement. Our condolences to his family.

Seminars

Dr. Bob Hall, University of Montana Flathead Lake Biological Station, will present a seminar Thursday, January 25, 2018, in Lecture Center 10 at 4 p.m.

Dr. Ellen Wohl will present a seminar Thursday, February 15, 2018, in Lecture Center 10 at 4 p.m.

Upcoming Events

There will be a fishing derby on January 27, 2018, at Sportsman’s Park on the west side of American Falls Reservoir which features a $500 1st place prize for the largest trout and a $100 1st place prize for perch. The derby runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is a fundraiser for the Portneuf Unit of American Fisheries Society, a student organization at ISU. There is a $35 per person entry fee. You can register online or call (208) 282-2139.

January 22 Last day to submit Idaho Residency Determination Worksheet with documentation to Office of the Registrar to declare Idaho residency

Payroll Information

Our pay period ends Saturday, January 27. Please be sure to submit your time by Monday, January 29 at noon. This gives your approver time to approve your time card and fix any problems by Tuesday, January 30 when time cards are due to Payroll.
