AnyCard:
Credit Card Authorization Shareware

AnyCard Software is a Windows-based credit card authorization program that I developed as a part of some work that I was doing in professional and academic publishing.  It ended up working splendidly, and I wanted to make it available to other folks who could make use of it.

I found that if you do some of your own publishing in the academic world, at some time or another, you'll need the ability to process credit cards.  Most credit card software, however, is way beyond the means of a teacher's salary -- and that's where AnyCard comes in handy.

I've included summary information below, but the primary source of information on AnyCard is found at RonWatters.com which is a separate and independent website that I maintain.  Here's the link:

Short Summary
.
I've been fortunate to have some nice endorsements of the program.  Andy Rathbone who authored many of the Windows for Dummies books is an enthusiastic user of the program.  "AnyCard program now handles the grunt work while I just supervise," wrote Andy.  "It saves time, energy, and eases frustration!"

AnyCard was also reviewed on the computer savy ZDNet site: "Installation is easy, with a built-in modem tester and detailed instructions on how to run practice verifications to ensure proper operation. The software will dial the center and with a click of the interface transmit the customer's credit-card info."

I have developed two versions of the software.  One version uses an Internet connection.  It is completely automated and processes cards within a second.  The other version uses a phone modem and authorizes cards by using touch-tone processing.  Since this second version is a manual system, it is, of course, slower, but it's quite simple to use and very inexpensive.

Reviews and Comments About AnyCard

The following review is by Andy Rathbone.  Andy is the best selling author of the Windows for Dummies series and other computer books.  He has penned more than 25 books and sold over 10 million copies worldwide.  More than any single author, he has helped make the world of computers and computer software friendlier and more understandable for us all.

Here's his review . . .

"While working for a local non-profit group, I used to dread my monthly call to the credit card company. I'd punch long, monotonous strings of numbers into the phone, all the while fearing I'd made a mistake. The AnyCard program now handles the grunt work while I just supervise. It saves time, energy, and eases frustration!"   --Andy Rathbone, Author of the Windows for Dummies series

Larry Bass uses AnyCard for his furniture company, Bass Furniture, located in Pensacola, Florida.  I added a rounding feature to the program at no charge so he and his sales staff could pre-approve purchases.  He wrote recently and said "You and your program, AnyCard, are first class all the way!" He also sent along this endorsement. . .

"For small businesses that frown at buying/leasing expensive credit card machines, please try Ron Watters’ AnyCard! program which makes obtaining telephone approval codes a snap. This easy-to-use program has often spared me and other coworkers the frustration of trying to perfectly punch in strings of credit card numbers, expiration dates, merchant numbers, and 11 digit phone numbers on a phone pad all the while knowing that my slightest pause or falter would trigger vengeance from the credit card gods."   --Larry Bass,  Bass Furniture Co.

John Kellas uses AnyCard for his business, Mt Parameters, an international electronic and computer equipment sourcing company located in Canada.  Since he switched to AnyCard for credit card processing, he no longer needed his card terminal.  He returned it to the bank and saved his business the $12 monthly fee.

"Your program is so much fun I wish I had more daily opportunities to use it!"
                         --John Kellas
