Philosophy 101
Study questions:  Descartes, Meditation IV and V

1.  In Meditation IV, Descartes develops an explanation of the source of error.  How does he
explain our tendency to err, given that we are created by a supremely perfect being (as
he believes he has proved in Med. III)?

2.  In Meditation V, Descartes develops a second, distinct argument for the conclusion that
God exists.  What are the main steps in this argument?

3.  Do you find the argument in Meditation V convincing?  How might someone object to
       this argument?
