Philosophy 101
Study questions:  Descartes, Third Meditation

1.  What is the main overall conclusion that Descartes wants to defend in this Meditation?

2.  Try to identify the main steps (premises) in the argument he develops for this conclusion.
How exactly does he try to prove to you that his conclusion must be true?

3.  Take a look at the premises that you have identified.

--Do you agree that IF all of these premises are true, then the conclusion will have to
be true?  (That is, do you agree that his argument is deductively Valid?)

--Do you agree that all of the premises are clearly true?  What objection might someone
raise against one of these premises?
