Study questions:  Chpts. 1 and 2 of Darwall, Philosophical Ethics

1.  Provide a brief (or extended, if you like) explanation of the following terms that Darwall uses:

        --Ethics
        --Metaethics
        --Normative Ethics

2.  Darwall argues that ethical claims or convictions have "objective purport."  What does he mean
        by this?

3.  What is "Hume's challenge?

4.  Late in Chpt. 2 Darwall develops what he takes to be a "fundamental dilemma of metaethics."
What is this dilemma?  What are your initial thoughts on how it might be resolved?  (You
need not, and probably should not, be confident--but what do you think?)
